Sunday Post #3

Yes, I am giving myself another challenge. Since I can’t title a damn thing, you my dear few brave readers get the generic title of Sunday Post. When I was a kid, getting the Sunday Newspaper was one of better things in life. It had the TV guide and Funnies, comics in color. There were also coupons, but that was for the adults. As I got older, I took an interests in the crosswords and other puzzles.  However, as time went on, I became aware of romance novels, crosswords and gaining the knowledge to answer them became a secondary possibly tertiary hobby.  I read a lot of books and then I decided to be a writer.

My earliest novels were about Princess twins, one being abandoned by her parents or guardians and raised like a boy, the other twin would be raised as girl and a princess, she would be sometimes spoiled.  The main male character would be betrothed to the wrong sister.  And there would be a switch, one sister would have to act like the other.   I remember I was big fan of the Prince and the Pauper story.   The working title was called Epic something.

The other was a High school drama, each character named after or named by friends at the time.  It was similar to Francine Pascal’s Sweet Valley High.   I can’t remember the characters or the story; I would have to go digging in the basement for them.  I might not find it.  Because it is highly possibly that the story was read prematurely by an inconsiderate relative and destroyed the story for me.   That was around the time I thought I would give up writing and become a lawyer.

I started writing again some months later.  I also guarded my work seriously.   It took me a long time to share my work with people again.  Eventually I did and now I share most of my random thoughts with you all.

My plans for this week are to post more that just the QfW’s which I love but I keep writing that I am writer.   I need to write more and write less about not writing.  Goals for the week.

Remember when I wrote I dislike the color orange.  Well there were other colors as well, but this is not a post about that.  This short essay is going to also hold another fun useless fact, not only does the month of August have two flowers, they also have three birth gems.  Peridot which is a light green gem and made extra famous by Steven Universe second tier gems.   The other gem for August is Sardonyx, I know was also a character of Steven Universe but a fusion of Garnet and Pearl.  I had an aversion to sardonyx because it was orange.  I had no idea that a sardonyx gems could be another color, or that it was just onyx with an added mineral or something.  It is probably true for many gems; they have a most used color and then there is the odd or off-color.  We have all heard of yellow and chocolate diamonds. All the sardonyx I saw were orange and at the time I was totally against it.   To be honest I wasn’t happy with peridot either, light green, was not my favorite color. It just proved to me that August was a poor month to be born.  I will elaborate on that on another post.  Green was better than orange in my young person opinion.  I got used to peridot.  Then sometime in my mid-20’s or 30’s I saw this necklace

Made famous by the Taiwanese Drama Meteor Garden.  The design was part of the show.  In the show the Jerry Yan character gave it to the Barbie Hsu character.  The star in the center was a diamond.   It was later promoted to have any birthstone, on a website. I can’t remember and I don’t know if they still offer it.  This design made me like my birthstone.  I have posted this picture in other blogs for various reasons. Don’t sue me. I can only look at pictures of jewelry.

Brief research has also shocked me to find that Spinel is also considered an August gem.   Made famous from the Steven Universe movie, the misused gem owned by Pink Diamond.  I would love to know who decides these things. However, I’m lazy and need to work on what is more important. It is possible in the future I might dig deeper for a character or something. But not now. I don’t love or hate spinel. It is nice looking gem. It is the same for sardonyx. There used to be a type of journal book with gemstone covers, hardcovers. I used to love those kinds of books and I had a nice-looking blue stone book and a green stone book I lost. I would buy a sardonyx book if they were still being sold.  Alas I won’t be doing a deep dive search for them anytime soon.

The point of this ramble is that I learned that I changed my mind on a lot of things as I got older.  I will be completely honest I am slow at accepting everything orange, but I do own a nice pair of capris and many orange bandanas.  I still give away my orange highlighters to anyone who will use it more.  Eventually that will change.  I know it. It has happened with other colors.  It is a part of life, gaining wisdom and sometimes losing stupid.

Fun useless fact, gladiolas are flowers for August. I didn’t know that read somewhere that the flower for the month of August were marigolds. Which was upsetting because I used to hate the color orange. But that is a discussion for another post, possibly #8, stay tuned.

The other flower for August is the poppy. I like poppies. The poppy vivid red color makes it an artists’ muse.  It represents bold and daring, aspects I yearn to be sometimes.  Aspects I have little off.   I’m sure gladiolas get the same amount of artwork; their colors are vibrant and varied.  I don’t know if poppies have other colors besides red.  But gladiolas have the red, the bluish purple, light pink varieties, peach, white, etc.   My mom planted some in the front yard and they come out every spring.

This has become a topic for discussion because I like to post a picture with every essay.  The theme is my birthday on Friday, and I’m astounded by all the things I’m learning on brief google checks.   This essay should have been posted on Sunday, but I had the birthday blues last week, so it was impossible to write.  I got somethings done but not everything I boasted on the previous Sunday.     Deep sigh emoji.

I think in my last post I claimed 50/50.  That is the story I am sticking to.   Not much has changed in the plans as far as writing goes.  I have at least 2 reviews to complete.  I have a scene to complete.  I have characters to continue developing.  I spoke about GMC’s and plausible believable wants, desires and what they really need.   I am also thinking about posting some short fiction on the Universe blog.  It is the reason this blog became the Universe.  It is the place where I put everything.   I am wondering why Sundays can feel different from Mondays.  Sundays can feel like a new week of possibility, but Monday can feel like the first day of the rest of the week.  The only way to get over it is through.  I am trying to get myself out of that mindset.  I am attempting to trick myself in believing that everyday is a possibility.  The best day to start is Today.  I think that is quote and I don’t know by who and I haven’t looked into the QFW’s.  I may have posted it.   I am hoping that this week is productive.  I am hoping that this week is better than last week, for everyone.   We still live in the world of uncertainty.

For those who leave a like thank you.  You can also leave a comment as well.   I hope you all have a decent, peaceful safe week.
