Updates May 03-07

Happy Birthday Sis!

She is also a teacher. Google is telling me it is Teacher Appreciation Week. Thank you Teachers for doing the work you do.

I am feeling in the doldrums this week. I learned that it is a nautical term not a weather term. It means to be caught in on windless waters. It tends to happen near the equator. Is it possible I feel like this because I am in the middle of my book. Normally I write my way out of this feeling. This update is done on Sunday but if noting the date. You will see that this post is started on Monday. The weekend was lackluster despite achieving most of writing task for the week.

Writing is my primary goal most of the time. However I understand that to be a content person with a positive outlook on life, I need to incorporate other things in life. Health, well-being, environment are all key factors in being a better person. It is a challenge to maintain positive life goals and writing goals, for me they tend to clash. This week I will be looking into learning how to balance these situations.

The reading list have not been conquered and since I’ve written about it. I need to make some headway. There are some animations I would like to discuss and of course the streaming movies or shows that are catching the eye of some reviewers. Let’s hope I pull myself up by my bootstraps.

Thank you for the likes and followers. I do see them and appreciate it. I hope for all of us this week goes well.

Updates April 25-30

Hello,

Thank you for the likes and follows.  I appreciate them and will do my best to continue with this website and blog.

Last week I was able to produce 5000 words.  It is not the 8000-word goal, but I am happy with it.  I was only able to do maybe 2 things on my goal list.  Despite typing this goal or announcement more than once, I have yet to post an essay or review on Wednesday.  The reason is basic, I didn’t feel like it.  In general, I don’t believe in the muse and I am annoyed with inspiration. I want to create positive writing habits.  Octavia E. Butler wrote:

First forget inspiration. Habit is more dependable. Habit will sustain you whether you’re inspired or not.  Habit will help you finish and polish your stories. Inspiration won’t. Habit is persistence in practice.

I have used this quote in the past because it true.  The desire to create stories is not my problem, writing and sharing them has always been the issue.  Knowing that there is someone out there waiting to read my story, the way I tell it, should be motivation enough to get me going.  This does not always work.  Creating a habit can help with that.  As for the Wednesday posts, there is a need for a stockpile.   I believed that the essays and reviews on were rushed, they lacked a certain amount of substance.  Therefore, the answer is to research reviews, read essays and cultivate the skill.  This task to be done well needs more time.  I don’t know if any of my readers are waiting for review or slice of life essay.   All that can be said is they are under construction.

The goals for this week are similar to last week, so I won’t write them out.  The overall goal is to put more effort into accomplishing the tasks set out.   I am wishing everyone a good and productive week.

Updates April 18-23

Hello everyone,

Thank you for the likes and follows.  Last week went faster than I thought.  Productivity with writing was so-so.  A plan for April was to try to keep up with Camp NaNoWriMo, even though I am not participating in the event. I feel like I am falling behind.  However, I choose not to ruminate on mistakes.

This week looks promising but doesn’t feel that way.   I am hoping that this feeling will change, and I am working towards a better mindset.  One of the methods is getting this entry posted.   The other method I use is to go through the collection of positive quotes and affirmations.  This mood will soon pass and moving forward to accomplish the weekly goals, which are:

1. Complete two or more books on the reading list.

2. Write a review and post it on Wednesday.

3. Reorganize my environment, things have been getting out of hand.

4.  8,000 new words for this week.

5.  Look for an efficient way to keep a daily word count.

Many of these goals are re-occurring.   I am sure they have been written before in other words.  Posting the goal list, will mean there will be something to write about next week.  I will try to talk about something more positive but it has been difficult since last week.

In closing, I hope this short post reaches everyone and encourages all to reach their goals whatever they are with exception of things illegal. Let us all try to be kind to one another.

Updates April 11-16

Hello Everyone,

Thank you for the likes and follows. I appreciate them.

Last week, was an interesting but not productive. I noticed it because it had nothing to do with motivation. It was lack of time and opportunity. The best writing advice is to guard your writing time because life will also find ways to interfere. I used to be able to do all sorts of things, on four hours of sleep. Sometimes I forget that I am not the same person I was before. With this epiphany I moved on, glad of the things that I did get accomplished like the weekly quotes for writers, this update and short essays. Book reviews will take a bit more time.  I have trouble writing a review, spoiler free.  There should be enough information to make, the book worth reading.  This week will be trying to find the balance.

Recently I saw my blog on a phone screen.  Most of the posts were fine.  However, some quotes for writers were off.  The picture overshadowed the words.  That was not my intention. The picture and the words should have equal footing in the post.  I was upset for moment and then I decided to think of this as a learning experience.  The post that could be fixed were.  Thanks again for the likes and follows despite the sometimes off picture.

Another thing I would like to highlight is Vlog Everyday in April or VEDA.  It is a month event similar to Camp Nanowrimo but instead of writing every day, the creators are producing and posting videos.  I am not sure when event started.  I just know that various video content creators, mostly on YouTube, participate.   There are people who do this all the time year-round.  It is part of their setup.  They plan for it and reach their goals.  For others this event will be taxing but worth it once they are able to accomplish it.  The whole experience is a revelation for the creator and their audience.  Congratulations to anyone who is participating in this event.

In conclusion, the hope is that this week is more productive than last week.  The goals set are accomplished.  Complete the books on the reading list.  I am hoping and praying that anyone reading this is doing well.  We can be kind to each other, whenever possible and in the words of someone with more influence than me, it is always possible.
