Hello,
Thank you for the likes and follows.
Happy Juneteenth!
As you all know, last week, there was no Monday update. I had some time on Tuesday, and a Wednesday post/update was put up. There were a number of grammatical errors in that Wednesday’s post, they have been fixed. We have officially moved to Brooklyn, and for the summer and the better part of the third quarter will be about settling up with everything. This along with the day job will be the new struggle. One of the possible perks of the move is that my commute may be a little cheaper. Instead of taking the LIRR to Grand Central Terminal, I can just hop on the local subway to my destination. This will be the first week I do this and not sure how I am going to feel about it. Ever since 2020, I’ve been skeptical about mass transit.
For the past two weeks, a new kind of writing project has been started. It was mainly for this website and the Quotes for Writers series. I found that my catalog needed to be upgraded. The old process used to go like this, I see a quote I like online or in a book, and I copy it into a book that I used for that process. If the quote is used in QFW, I copy it and put it in a digital file, under month and year. It was tedious but I believed it helped with memory. When I needed a quote I looked through the book first then made sure it wasn’t a repeat in the QFWs. I’ve been doing this for 3 years. It is the most consistent thing I have done for this blog/website. Cataloging all the quotes I collect helped me find copies and misspellings. Things I’ve done by hand. It also did the thing I liked the best. The quotes inspired me to write and also encouraged me to be well.
I felt the slump. I was beginning to feel depressed about the move and other things going on in my life; then made the conscience thought to deny it all. This poor choice reflected in me by avoiding the stories and essays I wanted to produce. I also quit things too soon another struggling flaw. Revisiting the collected quotes posted or not and wellness and other aspects of health worked.
This week, there will be a scramble for the Wednesday post, the overall goal is to make an effective plan for that content. The quotes for last week will be up this week and the pictures are going to be flowers that come out in June. I will be working on the writing projects Connection Lost and Gothic.
In reading news, while going through my audiobook, library I came across an book I bought but did not listen too. It is A Blade so Black by L.L. McKinney. I don’t know why I didn’t listen to the book when I bought it. McKinney, also wrote the comic Nubia: The Real One and I remember being more interested in that book. Now that the series is complete, I will leisurely listen to it and share my opinions in the future. I am also still listening to the Ordinary Magic series by Devon Monk. The series has an interesting set up, I first saw with Ilona Andrews in the Hidden Legacy series 1 & 2. I plan to talk about it when things get settled. Overall I am enjoying all the fiction books, I’m reading. It has been decided to go through the audiobook library and revisit books that were on pause. Many of these books are craft books. It has been said many times by many people, that to write well you have to read a lot. This has been another struggling flaw of mine. Finding comfortable time to read, audiobooks help but they can’t do it all. I’m a writer. I can’t be avoiding words on the page.
That is all for now. I hope these rambling words entertain and inspire. Let’s all be kind to each other and not miss any positive opportunity.
End
P.S.: The picture is an AI generated image, I asked for honeysuckle and got these lovely flowers in a vase. If you know what they are please let me know thanks.
